Before the great police raids of '71, Pasaje Begoña in Torremolinos was the happening spot in Torremolinos. Bars were shut down, and expats were deported. The police had given in to political pressure from what was at this time an extremely conservative population (especially in Malaga) which did not approve of the bohemian buzz in Torremolinos.
